You'll arrive at Lelepa Landing in time for a 9 am departure by boat, travelling along the mainland coastline before heading out to Eretoka Island.<br><br></div><div>On the way, your guide will point out the village of Magasi — the area where the legendary Chief Roimata once lived. When you arrive at Eretoka (also known as Hat Island), you step into one of Vanuatu's most significant cultural sites. This is the Chief Roimata's Domain, where Roimata was buried alongside around 300 of his people. The story is shared by us — the chiefs of Eretoka Island — as we walk and explore the island together for around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on conditions. There are white sandy beaches here, and time to take it all in.<br><br></div><div>From there, the focus shifts to the water. We visit our first snorkelling spot around Eretoka, including a fish feeding session where conditions allow. We then make our way to Lelepa Island, where two more snorkelling spots await; one known for its clam shells, and another for fish feeding and snorkelling. All snorkelling gear is provided, including mask, snorkel and fins.<br><br></div><div>After time in the water, we will bring you ashore to a small building on Lelepa Island for a rest break. Local mamas are on hand with their handicrafts, and there's time to browse, ask questions, and hear the stories behind what they make and why. Refreshments are served here too — local seasonal fruit and taro or manioc chips — while you take a breath and soak up the surroundings.<br><br></div><div>The village walk follows, and this is where the day really opens up. We show you how we live — how our houses are built, how we prepare island food, how canoes are crafted from start to finish. You'll meet a few locals along the way, visit historical sites within the village, and hear local storytelling, including the spot where the whole community gathers to watch the sunset and read meaning into where the sun falls near a particular tree. The mamas also take time to explain their handicrafts in depth; the techniques, the stories, and why the practice matters to us.<br><br></div><div>Lunch is included and features a spread of fish, island vegetables, rice, and chicken, depending on what's available on the day.<br><br></div><div>By 3 pm you're back at Lelepa Landing, and you'll be returned to Port Vila between 4 and 4:30 pm.
