Description
Tucked behind a roadside building in Uliga, the Alele Museum is one of Majuro's most rewarding stops, and it won't cost you a thing. Free to enter, with knowledgeable guides on hand at no charge, you'll move through rooms filled with traditional clam shell tools, outrigger canoes, navigation stick charts, jaki-ed mats, and fishing instruments. Rotating photo exhibits cover everything from German colonial-era chiefs to the 67 nuclear detonations that reshaped Bikini and Enewetak atolls. It's also home to the only public library in the Marshall Islands.
